Schedule: 3-5 days a week, requiring flexible daytime hours between EST-PST
Status: Temporary Employee or Contract (parental leave coverage), December 2021-January 2023

OpenMedia is looking for an experienced non-profit leader to fill the role of Interim Executive Director. We are looking for a grounded, compassionate, dynamic leader, who is committed to supporting our efforts to ensure the Internet is open, affordable, and surveillance-free, in Canada and beyond.
OpenMedia is an effective, dynamic team leading the charge to protect the possibilities of the open Internet. We believe in the power of the Internet to make the world better. To do that, Internet access must be affordable and fast, personal privacy must be the default, and free expression must be respected.
The past year and half has been challenging for everyone. But we’ve been incredibly fortunate at OpenMedia to have a caring, dedicated, and thoughtful team and community that have banded together to not just weather the storm, but set us up incredibly well for the years ahead. We are just completing our 5-year strategic planning process, and are excited to be moving forward with a clear direction for 2022.
About the Role
The Interim Executive Director’s primary responsibility will be to lead this dynamic and fast-paced organization through the first year of operationalizing its new five-year strategic plan. They should be eager to take on the work of stewarding a powerful public advocacy organization and ensure the organization’s sustainability and relevance for years to come. They will oversee the day-to-day operations of OpenMedia, leading our staff team.

Compensation & Benefits
This is a 12-14 month position, ideally from December 2021 – January 2023. The role is currently envisioned as a 3-day per week position, focused on overseeing our governance and high-level strategy. However, this could be up to a full-time position for the right candidate, and is open for discussion throughout the hiring process.
Salary is commensurate with experience in the range of $85-$95k/year for full time. This amount will be prorated to the number of days per week being worked, depending on the final contract.
OpenMedia offers a comprehensive, competitive, extended health benefits package. All full time staff receive three weeks vacation, 12 sick days, and three personal days annually. Additionally, OpenMedia provides a paid office closure for approximately five days each December. We also offer flexible and remote working for all staff, with operating hours between EST - PST time zones.
